This Privacy Policy describes how Techartworks ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application, Billsy (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide the receipt scanning and expense tracking functionality of the Service.
A. Data You Provide Explicitly
- Camera and Images: We require access to your device's camera and photo gallery to capture images of receipts.
- Extracted Content: We process the text and data extracted from your receipt images (e.g., store name, date, total amount, line items).
- Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your Email Address, Name, and Password.
B. Data Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous data about how you interact with the app, such as crash reports, session duration, and feature usage (e.g., frequency of successful scans).
- Device Information: We collect information about your mobile device, including model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers, to ensure app stability and security.
2. How We Process Your Data (Technical Architecture)
We utilize a hybrid processing approach to prioritize your privacy and speed.
- On-Device Processing (Primary): Whenever possible, we use on device processing to process receipt images directly on your device. In these instances, your original images may not be uploaded to our servers for processing.
- Cloud Processing (Fallback): For complex receipts that cannot be processed locally, encrypted image data may be uploaded to our secure cloud servers for advanced text extraction. This data is processed transiently and is not permanently stored for training purposes unless explicitly stated.
3. Third-Party Services
We share data with specific third-party service providers only to facilitate the Service's functionality and security. We do not sell your personal data.
- Cloud Services: Used for authentication, database storage, and analytics.
- ML Kit: Used for on-device optical character recognition (OCR).
- Play Services: Used for integrity verification.
4. Camera Permissions
Our app requires the android.permission.CAMERA permission. This access is used strictly for capturing receipt images at your request. We do not access the camera in the background or for any other purpose.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Retention: We retain your financial data and receipt images stored in our secure backend for as long as you maintain an active account to provide your expense history.
- Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at contactus@techartworks.com. Upon request, we will delete your data from our servers within 30 days.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit and User Authentication Check to ensure only authorized apps can access our backend resources. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. All the Financial numeric Data is encrypted and stored securely.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
